Odour: Pleasant, agreeable.
SK50 is an oil and grease emulsifier with a wide range of uses. It is an orange-pink liquid with slight fluorescence and is virtually odourless. The new formula is mildly alkaline and conforms with the requirements of the Australian Carpet Cleaning Standard AS3733.1995. SK50 does not contain flammable solvents. It mixes readily with water in all proportions, and rinses easily from all surfaces. It is not corrosive to the metals or plastics used in cleaning machines or cleaning equipment such as sprayers. SK50 is an environmentally responsible formulation and is biodegradable
Applications: SK50 will emulsify and remove animal and vegetable oils, fats and grease. Since many soils are bound with oil and grease it is an effective multipurpose cleaner for both carpets and hard surfaces. It is a great product for cleaning floors, walls and benches and is such an active general cleaner that it can successfully tackle removal of oily type smoke residues in fire restoration procedures. It is highly recommended for greasy synthetic carpets in restaurants etc. and is ideal for polypropylene carpets which at times seem to have an almost magnetic attraction for oil & grease.
Basic Dilution Quantity required 1 part of SK50 in 5 parts of water.
Since it has a relatively low pH and conforms with AS3733 it is suitable for cleaning all fibres in carpets and upholstery including wool and stain block protected nylon. When required it is compatible with all Sonitron deodorants.
Hard Surface Cleaning: For general clean-up of slightly oily floors, walls, benches etc a rate of 1-part SK50 in 40 parts of water is suggested, (250mls per 10 litre). Use of hot water is preferred but not essential. Being low foam, SK50 is very suitable for use in Auto scrubbers. Rotary tile cleaners are now widely used as an accessory to truck mounted carpet cleaning machines and have proved to be very effective in getting the grout clean. On oily, greasy work where an alkaline cleaner is indicated, excellent results have been obtained by prespraying the tiles at 1 part of SK50 in 20 of water. An additional advantage for the cleaning contractor is that one chemical can be deployed on both hard surfaces and carpets thus reducing the stock carried in the van.
Carpet Cleaning: For hot water soil extraction with high pressure machines and truck mounts, SK50 is normally applied as a prespray, and may be rinsed with straight water or water containing additives favoured by the contractor. Prespraying a larger contaminated area should be done at a rate appropriate to the level of soiling and would range from 1 in 8 for heavy contamination to 1 in 40 for light soiling. Sk50 has been Wool safe approved and is recommended at a rate no greater than 1 in 40.
